Ferrite Plates- Advantages, Applications & Uses
Ferrite plates are discs made of ferrimagnetic material or sintered metal oxides. They are a simple & inexpensive solution used to provide shielding against the inductively coupled noise that comes from a high DI/DT source. They also help to suppress radiated Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), which acts as a shielding material. While using these plates, they can be installed close to an offending component or on the source of stray EMI, like antennas. Not just this, but there’s much more to know.
So, in this blog, we’re going to take a closer look at how ferrite plates are useful for different applications. This will help you make the right decision while selecting them for your business requirements.

What are the Uses of Ferrite Plates?
Power Electronics
Ferrite plates are largely used in high-frequency applications in power electronics. They help to counteract the unwanted switching noise without having a filter circuit in the layout. Owing to this, ferrites are increasingly manufactured in a variety of shapes & materials to serve the growing requirements of the industry.
RFID & NFC antennas
Ferrite plates are used to boost the performance of RFID & NFC antennas by suppressing the noise from internal & external sources. These antennas are always tested & evaluated to analyse their performance in different applications.
Wireless Charging Systems
The plates are also effective for improving the efficiency of wireless charging systems. If you take a look at traditional methods, charging devices were based on a metal housing which entirely absorbed the magnetic field and reduced the charging efficiency of the system.
But, with ferrite plates, there’s no such problem. These plates are placed between the coil of the charging device & metal housing, which boosts the efficiency of the energy transmission significantly.
In ferrite plates, the energy losses are largely dependent on ambient temperature. The standard materials produce low losses at 100°C temperatures. On the other hand, there are higher losses at room temperature.
But the energy loss characteristics are in the favourable zone. The energy is transmitted efficiently at both room temperature & at higher temperature (100°C). This is why the plates are suitable for both cold & hot weather.
If you want to determine the shielding effectiveness of ferrite plates, you must check their complex permeability (μ) v/s frequency value.
Find Highest Quality Ferrite Plates at Cosmo Ferrites Limited
The primary reason to use ferrite plates is to get the benefit of the high magnetic susceptibility of ferrimagnetic materials. This helps to suppress unwanted noise & radiation in electric & electronic applications.
At Cosmo Ferrites, our engineers & designers understand the customer’s requirements and develop high-quality & reliable ferrite plates accordingly. Our plates are an ideal shielding material to ensure smooth flow of magnetic flux between the transmitter & receiver devices. This prevents the issue of disruption & optimises the charging efficiency of the application.
